I have to admit I absolutely love a little woo-woo. Tarot, astrology, numerology, lunar cycles…I’m endlessly curious about it all. Do I use it to plan every detail of my life? No. But I do believe these systems can offer a new perspective. They help us notice patterns, reflect on themes, and move forward with greater intention.
So I’ve been exploring the themes of 2026, just to see what they might reveal. And when I look at this year through a few different lenses, I notice something beautiful.
In numerology, we’ve shifted from a 9 year into a 1 year as we stepped into 2026. And as we welcome the Lunar New Year this week, we have moved from the introspective Year of the Snake into the dynamic Year of the Horse.
They offer very different ways of thinking, but share the same invitation.
The Energy We Are Leaving
A 9 year in numerology represents the end of a cycle. It carries the energy of closure, integration, and release. It asks us to finish what we started, to let go of what no longer fits, and to honour the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
The Year of the Snake mirrored this. Snake energy is reflective and discerning. It’s about seeing things clearly, shedding old skins, outdated identities, habits and stories that no longer align with who we are becoming.
Both have this sacred act of closing doors with intention. And that kind of ending prepares us for something far more powerful.
The Energy We Are Entering
A 1 year in numerology marks the beginning of a new nine-year cycle. It is about identity, independence, and initiation. It invites us to claim our direction and consciously lead our lives.
The Year of the Horse brings freedom, momentum, and expression. Where the Snake asked us to observe, the Horse asked us to move. It’s about leaving behind what was and stepping confidently into what we truly want.
Both bring this energy of striding confidently into a new chapter, rather than clinging to the last one. This year invites you to embody the woman you have been quietly becoming, not forcing growth, but finally trusting it.
Journal Prompts for This Transition
As we move between these energies, from closure into initiation, here are journal prompts to guide your reflection.
Honouring the energy of last year:
What did this past season teach you about yourself?
What feels complete, even if it ended differently than you expected?
What identities, habits and stories do you feel ready to release with gratitude?
Stepping into the energy of this year:
Who are you choosing to be in this new season?
What are you ready to embrace in this new season, even if it feels bold or unfamiliar?
What does aligned momentum look like in your life right now?
I’m curious if these themes resonate with you.
For me, this past year has felt like a quiet building. It was full of subtle shifts and laying the groundwork for what’s next. It’s less about dramatic change and more about steady, aligned momentum. This year, though, I can sense bigger changes and new opportunities beginning to rise from that foundation.
Whether or not you follow numerology or lunar cycles, the symbolism is clear: this is a year of conscious beginnings. You are invited to move, not frantically, but faithfully, toward what feels true.
Happy Journaling!
