October: A Month of Rooting, Reflecting & Embracing Change

Updated: Oct 29

There’s something about October that just feels different, right? The air turns crisp, the leaves show off in their brightest colours, and suddenly a stroll around the block feels straight out of a Gilmore Girls set.

Unlike September, which can feel a little hectic, October is slower, softer, and more grounded. It’s less about hustling to get everything in order and more about cozying into your rhythms, soaking up the season, and finding joy in the small, everyday moments.

This month, let’s give ourselves permission to slow down, root in what feels good, and embrace this beautiful season of change.

Intentions for October

Here are five intentions to guide you through October:

  • Rooting into Rituals: Anchor yourself with grounding practices that support calm and clarity.

  • Honoring the Season of Change: Allow yourself to mirror nature’s cycles, releasing what no longer serves and welcoming new growth.

  • Deepening Presence: Stay connected to the small, simple moments that bring joy and peace.

  • Cultivating Gratitude: Notice and celebrate the abundance already around you.

  • Reconnect with What Matters: Give your attention to the people, projects, and passions that light you up, and let go of what doesn’t.

Affirmations for October

Let these words be your anchor as you move through the month:

  • I root myself in rituals that nourish me — mind, body, and soul.

  • I trust the beauty of change and release what no longer serves me.

  • I slow down and savor the present moment.

  • I am grateful for the blessings—big and small—that surround me.

  • I make space for what truly matters.

Journal Prompts for October

Use these prompts to reflect, realign, and root into the energy of the month:

  • What daily or weekly rituals help you feel grounded right now?

  • What do you feel ready to release in your life, and what space will that create for something new?

  • What distractions or worries pulled me away from the present, and how can I gently release them?

  • What small joys do you often overlook that you can pause to appreciate?

  • How would my days look different if I focused on what matters most to me?

Romanticizing October

October is the perfect month to lean into cozy, intentional rituals that make everyday life feel abundant. Here are a few ways to romanticize the season:

  • Start your day with warm tea or coffee outside, wrapped in a blanket, watching the world wake up.

  • Make a cozy playlist, think acoustic, chill, or even nostalgic songs, for your Saturday mornings.

  • Diffuse a grounding essential oil blend, I personally love scents like nutmeg, clove, sandalwood pine and even balsam this time of year.

  • Swap one evening screen scroll for a candlelit bath and a good book.

  • Invite friends over for a cozy board game night.

October reminds us that slowing down is not falling behind—it’s an act of alignment. By rooting, reflecting, and embracing change, you create space for deeper clarity, peace, and intention in your life.
